Prevention of diseases transmitted from animals to humans discussed in Karakalpakstan

An international seminar was held in Nukus as part of the Nature for Health (N4H) initiative, aimed at preventing zoonotic diseases using the One Health approach.

The event was attended by representatives of government agencies, scientific organizations, and local authorities. The seminar was organized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change of Uzbekistan.

Participants analyzed the risks of the emergence and spread of infections associated with wildlife and human interaction with ecosystems. In addition, they reviewed potential transmission pathways, risk factors, and gaps in available data.

Based on the results of the discussions, specialists prepared a preliminary systemic map of the problems and identified areas requiring further study. The findings will be used in the preparation of the final report and project document.

The One Health approach involves collaborative work in the fields of human, animal, and environmental health. As part of the N4H initiative in Uzbekistan, three inception events are planned, and the meeting in Nukus was the first of them.
