PISA 2025: Uzbekistan students ranked 48th out of 91 countries in science

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has announced the results of the PISA 2025 international assessment program. Uzbekistan participated in the study for the second time and recorded positive changes.

According to the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, 8,652 15-year-old students from 233 schools randomly selected by the international organization from the country participated in the study.

In the science direction, Uzbekistan students scored 438 points, ranking 48th among 91 countries and education systems. For comparison, the result in science in PISA 2022 was 355 points and 80th place. Thus, in 2025, the indicator increased by nearly 83 points.

In learning in the digital world, Uzbekistan students recorded 72nd place with 402.4 points.

In PISA 2025, science literacy was designated as the main focus. This represents the level of a student's ability to apply basic knowledge and skills necessary in daily life. While those who showed a basic level and higher results accounted for 19 percent in 2022, this indicator reached 65 percent in 2025. This means a 46 percent growth.

PISA is an international program for assessing the knowledge and skills of students, conducted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which tests the ability of 15-year-old students in various countries to apply the knowledge they gained at school in real-life situations. It is conducted once every three years.
