Paid classes worth 24-29 million soums per month opened at a public school in Tashkent
The Agency for Specialized Educational Institutions announced that the paid classes of the Specialized Foreign Language Boarding School have been opened for children who failed to apply and pass the exam. As it turned out, the Cabinet of Ministers, with its closed resolution in 2024, established the legal basis for this practice. Public activists are raising a number of questions.
Paid classes have been established at the newly opened Foreign Language Boarding School in Tashkent, with a monthly fee of 24-29 million soums. The Agency for Specialized Educational Institutions officially announced this on August 20.
According to the agency, the opening of paid classes was due to numerous proposals and requests from parents. Children who have submitted documents to the school and failed the exam will be accepted into these classes.
The fee amounts are as follows:
* 24 million soums per month for grades 1-4.
* 29 million soums per month for grades 5-7.
If a student is from another region, parents can pay an additional 3 million soums per month to accommodate him in the school dormitory.
According to Jahongir Rakhmonov, the press secretary of the Agency for Specialized Educational Institutions, more than 22 thousand appeals have been received from parents on this issue. The legal basis for this practice is established in the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 908 dated December 30, 2024. However, since this resolution is "for use within the framework of the service", its content cannot be disclosed.
Rakhmonov noted that education is free for students who successfully pass the exam. The school teaches English and Chinese in depth. Students also have five meals a day, sports classes, and language classes. However, the basis for the prices set for paid classes is unknown.
For your information, specialized schools are considered state educational institutions and are financed from the state budget. Foreign educational programs and the involvement of foreign teachers in the school are also carried out at the expense of the budget.
