By 2035, Kazakhstan's economy will require 2.9 million personnel, announced Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Askarbek Yertayev during a government meeting.
Of this total demand, which includes both new demand and replacement, 1.8 million people will be skilled blue-collar workers. The greatest shortages are expected in IT, agriculture, construction, and industry. In connection with this, the list of in-demand specialties has been expanded from 51 to 174 titles.
The updated registry will cover fields in engineering, manufacturing, biotechnology, as well as green and nuclear energy. The head of the department noted a steady market demand for blue-collar workers, emphasizing that they account for more than half of all posted vacancies on the electronic labor exchange.
According to official data from the ministry, the labor force in Kazakhstan stands at 9.8 million people. Of these, 9.4 million are employed, and the employment rate in the country has reached 96%.
