Members of a drug network who operated through dead drops were detained in Tashkent and the Tashkent region. Among the detainees were young people, including students, as well as previously convicted citizens. More than two kilograms of mephedrone and marijuana were found in their possession.

The operation was conducted by officers of the Operational-Search Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its territorial divisions jointly with the State Security Service. The first suspects were detained in the Uchtepa and Bektemir districts of the capital, as well as in the Tashkent region. The young people traveled in a Tracker car and distributed drug drops.

During the search of their residences, rented premises, and adjacent areas, law enforcement officers found about 500 grams of marijuana, over two kilograms of mephedrone, a thousand zip-lock bags, scales, and other items intended for the packaging and distribution of illicit substances.

Further operational work led to other members of the network. In particular, a stash of synthetic drugs, which the perpetrators intended to retrieve, was discovered in the Yukorichirchik district.

The investigation established that the group had worked for an online drug store for several months: initially, the members acted as drop-ers, and later as warehouse workers. Among the detainees were students from various educational institutions, as well as a citizen previously convicted of robbery and his accomplices.

In total, during the operational-search activities, drugs in an amount equivalent to 52.8 thousand single doses were seized.

A criminal case under the article on illicit drug trafficking has been initiated against the members of the criminal group. The investigation is ongoing.

This is not the first such incident in the capital region. Earlier in Tashkent and the Tashkent region, three people were detained, and about 900 grams of mephedrone and hashish were seized from them.
