Mobile radars on the roads may not be warned about in advance

In Uzbekistan, the requirement to install warning road signs for speed radars has been changed. In the new revision, this obligation has been retained only with respect to stationary radars. It follows from this that separate warning signs might not be installed ahead of mobile radars.

Advance warnings about mobile radars on roads may no longer be mandatory

By Cabinet of Ministers Decision No. 596 of October 29, 2026, relevant amendments were made to Government Decision No. 318 of May 15, 2025.

According to the previous procedure, starting from September 1, 2025, it was mandatory to install the "Radar" road sign in areas where stationary and mobile radars of any type controlling speed were located, as well as at a distance of 250–500 meters from them.

In the new decision, this clause was reworded, replacing the phrase "stationary and mobile radars of any type" with "stationary radars." As a result, mobile radars were excluded from this mandatory requirement.

Additionally, an amendment was also made to the clause regarding sign 5.43 – "Radar" in the Traffic Rules. According to it, the sign is installed at a distance of 250–500 meters before locations where traffic speed is controlled using stationary radars.

Thus, the obligation to warn drivers with a sign before stationary radars remains. Regarding mobile radars, no such obligation is provided for in the new edition.
