Mirziyoyev puts forward new initiatives in the SCO Plus format

Speaking at the SCO Plus meeting, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented a number of new initiatives aimed at developing global and regional cooperation.

The head of state emphasized that the UN should retain its central and coordinating role in shaping a just world order, while regional structures should contribute to the implementation of common principles and decisions based on local conditions.

According to the President, the SCO Plus format can go beyond the scope of a simple expanded meeting and become a platform for dialogue that unites states, regions and organizations around a common agenda.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed developing the SCO Plus format as an interregional platform for dialogue. In his opinion, it is necessary to focus on such areas as sustainable growth, high technologies, climate adaptation, human capital development, education and support for youth. The importance of exchanging experiences, coordinating approaches and promoting common solutions within the UN framework was also noted.

The President also expressed the initiative to establish a Cooperation Network of regional organizations on the basis of the SCO Plus platform. Its main task may be to establish permanent working contacts between secretariats and specialized bodies and implement joint projects in the macro-region. In addition, it was proposed to make wider use of the potential of regional organizations in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed forming an Open Bank of interregional projects and technologies in order to widely disseminate effective solutions used in different regions. This base may include advanced developments in the fields of nature use, "green" energy, digital services and healthcare.

The President also touched upon the issue of strengthening economic cooperation in the macro-region. He noted that businesses should feel practical results in the form of simplification of market access procedures, the launch of cross-border corridors and the flow of direct investments. To this end, it was proposed to give the SCO Plus forum the status of a permanent platform.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also put forward the initiative to establish a permanent forum of cultures and civilizations "SCO Plus". Uzbekistan expressed its readiness to hold this forum in Khiva together with interested UN structures. The President noted Khiva as an ancient center of science and education.

In conclusion, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the "SCO Plus" format can serve to increase common ground between countries and regions, strengthen mutual trust and stability.
