Mirziyoyev proposed expanding the "SCO Plus" format

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed expanding practical cooperation within the "SCO Plus" format with the United Nations and other regional organizations. These initiatives were announced on September 1 at the "SCO Plus" meeting in Bishkek, dedicated to the role of the UN in shaping a just and multipolar world order, according to the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by heads of delegations from SCO member states, heads of the organization's permanent bodies, leaders of observer and partner states, distinguished guests, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and heads of other international organizations.

In his speech, Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to identify ways in which states and regional associations can contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of global institutions. He believed that the UN should maintain its central and coordinating role, while regional organizations can complement its activities, taking into account local conditions, needs, and capabilities.

In this context, the President emphasized the importance of the "SCO Plus" format, which, he said, can unite states, regions, and organizations around a common agenda and facilitate the coordination of various initiatives in global governance.

Mirziyoyev reaffirmed Uzbekistan's commitment to developing open and mutually beneficial cooperation in the Eurasian space. He emphasized that connectivity is key to strategic independence and sustainability, and that multipolarity, in Uzbekistan's view, should not lead to the creation of new dividing lines.

Proposals included further development of "SCO Plus" as a platform for interregional dialogue on sustainable growth, high technology, climate adaptation, human capital, accessible education, and youth support.

To exchange experiences and harmonize approaches within the UN, Uzbekistan proposed exploring the possibility of creating a Partnership Network of Regional Organizations based on the "SCO Plus" format.

Special attention was paid to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The creation of an Open Bank of Interregional Projects and Technologies in the areas of environmental management, green energy, digital services, and healthcare was proposed as a practical tool.

A significant portion of his speech was devoted to economic cooperation. Mirziyoyev emphasized that businesses must see concrete results from cooperation, including simplified market access, the development of cross-border corridors, and increased direct investment.

In this regard, the president proposed making the "SCO Invest" forum a permanent platform focused on achieving practical results.

Another initiative was the creation of a permanent "SCO Plus" Forum of Cultures and Civilizations. Uzbekistan proposed hosting such an event in Khiva, which the president described in his speech as an ancient center of science and education.

In conclusion, Mirziyoyev noted the relevance of the "SCO Plus" format and emphasized that expanding ties between countries and regions creates a stronger foundation for stability and mutual trust.
