The new 145-room hotel welcomes guests with Mercure's signature, locally-inspired hospitality in one of Uzbekistan's most treasured historical destinations on the Great Silk Road.

Accor brand Mercure Hotels & Resorts, known for its warm and locally-inspired hospitality, today announced the opening of Mercure Khiva. Located next to the historic walls of Ichan Qala, this 145-room hotel is the first hotel operating under an international brand in the city of Khiva, one of Uzbekistan's most treasured cultural destinations, and the entire Khorezm region.

Since its founding in 1973, Mercure has encouraged guests not just to stay, but to feel like a part of the place. Based on discovering local life and reflecting the spirit of the surroundings, the brand creates experiences that connect people with culture, the local community, and the destination. With over 1,000 hotels in more than 65 countries, Mercure operates globally while keeping local identity at its core. Each of the brand's hotels showcases the uniqueness of its location through design, gastronomy, traditions, and human interaction.

Mercure Khiva joins Accor's expanding portfolio of eight hotels in Uzbekistan. This further strengthens the group's commitment to long-term operations in the country and the consistent development of key business and leisure tourism destinations in the region. In 2025 alone, Uzbekistan welcomed 11.7 million foreign tourists. This shows the growing attractiveness of the country as a tourist destination.

Aron Libinson, Vice President of Operations for Accor in Georgia and CIS countries, said:

"Mercure Khiva reflects the unique spirit of the city of Khiva and the entire Khorezm region, and provides the high quality standards that guests expect from Mercure worldwide. As our eighth hotel in Uzbekistan, this new hotel is an important step towards strengthening both our presence in the country and Khiva's connection with global tourists."

The Mercure Khiva hotel is owned by Kaz Development Invest Group. The company invested in the construction of the hotel as part of the consistent development of tourism infrastructure in the Khorezm region. Within the framework of the Kaz Development Invest Group project, in which approximately $26 million was invested, nearly 200 jobs were created. The project contributes to the consistent development of tourism infrastructure in the Khorezm region.

Famous for the rich heritage of the Great Silk Road, its unique architecture, and traditions that continue today, Khiva is one of Uzbekistan's most attractive cultural tourism destinations. The city is home to Ichan Qala, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Khiva continues to attract tourists who want to experience cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and authentic local life.

Mercure Khiva blends modern hospitality with subtle details that reflect the city's multi-layered historical and cultural identity. This harmony is visible throughout the hotel's interiors. Each Mercure hotel is shaped by its surroundings, drawing inspiration from local stories and created to help guests discover the true spirit of the place. At Mercure Khiva, this approach is manifested through design inspired by local culture and a warm atmosphere that encourages guests to feel connected to the city from the moment they arrive.

Located at 81 Khorrotlar Street, next to the famous walls of Ichan Qala, Mercure Khiva uniquely combines the opportunity to discover new places with comfort. Guests can stroll among centuries-old architectural monuments, learn about local stories and vibrant traditions, and then return to a peaceful sanctuary inspired by the spirit of Khorezm. The hotel is easily accessible from Urgench International Airport and the railway station, making it an ideal starting point for exploring Khiva.

The hotel's gastronomic offerings reflect Mercure's approach to hospitality, blending local uniqueness with aspects of various world cuisines. The hotel's main restaurant, Pakhlavon Plov, showcases the culinary traditions of Uzbekistan and the Khorezm region. Along with local varieties of pilaf, it serves regional dishes such as barak, shivit oshi, and dishes cooked in a traditional tandoor. Dishan Qal'a offers favorite dishes of local and international cuisines. The hotel's bars and cafe create a warm atmosphere to discover flavors inspired by local traditions throughout the day. Guests can also dine outdoors in a peaceful setting at The Terrace.

The hotel offers extensive facilities for wellness and relaxation: a swimming pool, a traditional sauna, a hammam, and spa treatments. Mercure Khiva also offers three meeting and conference rooms, adaptable spaces for various events, individual service, and customized catering options. Additional services include free Wi-Fi, 24-hour room service, laundry and dry cleaning, parking, and airport transfer.
