Man ordered to do 300 hours of community service after throwing 4-year-old girl into spring
A court has handed a 41-year-old man 300 hours of compulsory community service for throwing a 4-year-old girl into a spring in Baliqchi district, Andijan province.
The Khonobod City Criminal Court ruled that the man, identified as A.Kh., was guilty of hooliganism under Article 277, Part 2, Clause “d” of the Criminal Code.
According to the document, the incident happened at around 7 p.m. on April 25, 2026, in the Gurovon mahalla (neighborhood). A.Kh. said in court that he had drunk a glass of beer and 200 grams of vodka at about 10 a.m. that day, then went to an acquaintance’s TV repair workshop, where he saw the girl.
“I remember passing the cemetery. After that, because I was very drunk, I can’t remember what I did,” he told the court. He said he later woke up in a sobering-up center.
A woman named Muattar, who was present at the scene, pulled the girl out of the water, took her home, changed her clothes and called the 102 emergency line.
The girl’s mother, identified as D.M., told the court that her daughter had gone out to play at about 6 p.m. and did not come back. At about 8 p.m., she said, her brother called and said that an unfamiliar man had met the girl in the street, told her, “You are my child, come,” taken her away and thrown her into a roadside spring. She said her daughter is now in good health and asked the court to take lawful measures against the man.
A.Kh. told the court that he thought the girl was his son and could not remember throwing her into the water. He said he regretted what he had done and had apologized to her parents.
