In Bukhara, a court verdict has been rendered against a kindergarten head who caused the death of a three-year-old child

Court verdict announced for kindergarten head responsible for three-year-old child's death in Bukhara

In the Qorako‘l district of Bukhara region, the freedom of the head of a family kindergarten, which led to the death of a 3-year-old girl whose condition worsened, has been restricted for 4 years.

The incident took place on June 20, 2025, in one of the family non-governmental preschool education organizations in the district. On that day, S., born in 2022, suffered from diarrhea and her stomach began to hurt. However, instead of having her examined by a doctor or notifying her parents, the head of the kindergarten gave the girl "Ciprofloxacin", a drug prohibited for young children and used only with a doctor's prescription.

According to the head of the kindergarten, D.E., the child arrived at the institution around 08:30 in the morning. Throughout the day, she had diarrhea, and the educators changed her clothes several times. Later, she played with other children and had lunch.

"Around 13:15, the girl woke up crying. She had diarrhea again and said her stomach was hurting. The educator took her to the toilet several times. After that, I took medicine from the refrigerator, placed a piece of the tablet on the girl's tongue, and gave her water to drink. I thought the medicine would help the child," D.E. said in her testimony.

Shortly after, the child tried to vomit, and her color changed. D.E. removed the remaining piece of medicine from her mouth. Following this, the girl's lips turned blue, and her jaw began to lock. Then, an ambulance was called. Until the ambulance arrived, D.E. and her spouse tried to help the child. Then, they took the girl to the clinic in their own car. Having met the ambulance on the way, they handed her over to the doctors.

The girl was taken to the Qorako‘l District Medical Association, but it was not possible to save her life.

Death was caused by airway obstruction

The forensic medical examination determined that the girl's death was caused by suffocation resulting from vomit masses blocking the upper respiratory tract.

Experts also noted that no other morphological signs of diseases that could lead to death were detected in the deceased. Experts stated that when symptoms of illness appeared in the child, she should have been shown to a pediatrician or an infectious disease specialist, and only after the necessary examinations were conducted should the medicines recommended by a doctor have been given.

D.E. pleaded guilty in court, expressed remorse for her actions, apologized to the family members of the deceased, and asked the court for leniency.

The girl's father stated that he had no material or moral claims against the head of the kindergarten and asked to impose a legal punishment on her.

According to the court verdict, D.E. was found guilty of committing the crime stipulated in Part 3 of Article 116 of the Criminal Code (Improper performance of professional duties). She was sentenced to 4 years of restriction of liberty, with deprivation of the right to work in preschool and school education organizations for a period of 2 years.
