In Fergana, the freedom of a doctor has been restricted after causing the death of a pregnant woman and having a fake COVID-19 document prepared to cover up the traces of the tragedy

In Fergana, the liberty of a doctor who caused the death of a pregnant woman and had a fake COVID-19 document prepared to cover up the tracks of the tragedy has been restricted.

In the Buvayda district of the Fergana region, a court verdict was issued against two doctors following the death of a pregnant woman.

It was revealed that 62-year-old obstetrician-gynecologist Kh.O'. worked in the maternity department of the Buvayda district medical association. On November 22, 2025, at around 10:30 AM, M.N., who was 40–41 weeks pregnant, admitted herself to the department. According to court documents, the doctor did not sufficiently study the patient's medical card, previous illnesses, and the condition of the fetus.

Kh.O'. administered the labor-inducing drug "Glandin-E" to the woman and received 150,000 soums from her husband in exchange. A few hours later, the woman's amniotic fluid broke, and her condition deteriorated sharply. Her blood pressure dropped, her breathing became difficult, and her face began to turn blue. The patient was transferred to the resuscitation department. However, despite the medical assistance provided, both the woman and her fetus died on that day.

The forensic medical examination determined that the woman passed away from DIC syndrome and multi-organ failure caused by amniotic fluid embolism. The expert opinion noted that the patient was not sufficiently examined, the labor process was not fully monitored, and the provision of qualified assistance was delayed. It was also stated that if assistance had been provided in a timely and complete manner, the possibility of saving the lives of the mother and the fetus could not be ruled out.

Following this, in order to conceal his guilt, Kh.O'. conspired with B.O., the founder and laboratory doctor of a private diagnostic center. He had a fake report prepared stating that COVID-19 was detected in the deceased and added the document to the patient's medical history.

"In order to make it appear as though the deceased died of COVID-19, I obtained a positive result even though there was no blood sample. However, I did not administer the 'Glandin-E' suppository; more precisely, I did not have time to administer it," the defendant said.

However, one of the witnesses stated that they had directly seen the doctor administer the drug. B.O. also pleaded guilty in court, saying that he had initially refused to prepare the report because no blood sample had been taken from the deceased.

"I said that I could not provide a test report if there was no blood. Kh.O'. said, 'Just make a positive report for COVID, if there is any other issue, I will answer for it myself,'" he said.

The Buvayda District Criminal Court found Kh.O'. guilty under Article 116, Part 3 (Improper performance of professional duties) and Article 228, Part 2, Paragraph "b" and Part 3 (Forgery of documents and use of a forged document) of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 3 years and 1 month of restriction of liberty and was banned from working in the obstetrics and gynecology department for one year. B.O. was found guilty under Article 228, Part 2 of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to one year of correctional labor with 20 percent of his salary withheld for state revenue.
