Kazakhstan launches "women's carriages" on the route to Tashkent

Starting October 1, 2026, Kazakhstan will introduce a "women's carriage" on international train No. 1/2 on the Almaty – Tashkent route for the first time. Only female passengers and boys aged seven and under will be allowed into the special carriage.

Currently, the train runs daily. It departs from Almaty at 19:05 and arrives in Tashkent at 12:53 the following day. From Tashkent, the train departs at 14:41 and arrives in Almaty at 08:51. Local time is indicated for each point.

According to Anuar Akhmetzhanov, head of JSC "Passenger Transportation," the service is in high demand on domestic routes — over 946,000 people have used it since its launch. After adding the new train, the number of routes with women's carriages will increase to 14, including the service from Almaty to Tashkent.

The unique feature of such carriages lies not only in selling tickets exclusively to women, but also in being staffed solely by female conductors.

Tickets can be purchased 45 days prior to the trip. When booking, a seat in the specialized carriage is marked with the "ЖН" (WH) label.
