Kazakhstan entered the list of the world's top 40 most competitive economies

Kazakhstan has secured a place among the world's top 40 most competitive economies. The International Institute for Management Development (IMD) has released the World Competitiveness Ranking 2026.

This ranking assesses the capacity of countries to create sustainable development conditions for the economy and business. In it, Kazakhstan ranked 38th among 70 countries.

In which areas did Kazakhstan show high results?

In the study, the competitiveness of countries is assessed across four main areas: economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure. The ranking is based on statistical data as well as the results of surveys conducted among company executives.

The IMD highlighted Kazakhstan's results in twenty specific areas. Among the best indicators are:

tax policy — 9th place;

international trade — 19th place;

labor market — 20th place;

management practices — 20th place;

attitudes and values in business — 20th place;

employment — 26th place;

institutional framework — 29th place;

productivity and efficiency — 32nd place;

domestic economy — 33rd place.

Among countries with a population of over 20 million, Kazakhstan ranked 15th. In the Europe, Middle East, and Africa group, the republic was placed 25th. Singapore, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UAE, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the USA entered the top ten.
