In Uzbekistan, the number of court cases involving violence against women has increased

In the first half of the year, courts in Uzbekistan considered 2,018 criminal cases related to harassment and violence against women. This is 800 more than during the same period last year. A total of 2,146 women became victims, including 581 girls under the age of 18.

During the first half of the year, courts in Uzbekistan reviewed 2,018 criminal cases related to harassment and violence against women. This is stated in a report by the Supreme Court.

The total number of reviewed cases grew by 65.7% compared to 1,218 during the same period of 2025.

A total of 2,480 individuals became defendants in these cases. Convictions were handed down in 1,215 cases (an increase of 337 compared to the same period last year) against 1,624 individuals (+521).

Over the six months, 2,146 women were recognized as victims. The largest groups among them were women aged 31 to 60 (870) and those aged 18 to 30 (654). Another 581 victims were under the age of 18.

At the time of committing the crimes, 71% of those convicted (1,165) did not have permanent employment.
