The number of criminal cases heard in Uzbekistan's courts increased by 29 percent in six months

In the first half of 2026, the number of criminal cases heard in courts increased by 29 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2025. This situation was noted in the report published by the Supreme Court.

Within six months, the cases of 49,705 people were reviewed in the criminal courts of Uzbekistan. This figure is 11,197 more than in the corresponding period of 2025.

In the report, criminal cases are divided into four types according to their level of social danger. Among them, the most frequently heard were cases classified as not posing a major social danger, numbering 22,066. The share of this type of crime increased by almost 50 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2025.

In the half-year, 11,428 less serious criminal cases were heard in courts. This figure is 12 percent higher than a year ago.

The number of grave crimes heard in courts amounted to 13,795 — which is 18 percent more than in the corresponding period of 2025. Extremely grave crimes numbered 2,416, an increase of 19 percent compared to the figure from a year ago.

During the half-year, the highest number of criminal cases in courts was recorded in the city of Tashkent — 6,639. Relatively high shares were recorded in the subsequent places: Fergana (6,159), Tashkent (5,498), and Samarkand (5,461) regions. The fewest criminal cases heard were observed in the Syrdarya region — 1,304.
