The number of immigrants to Uzbekistan increased by 2.5 times

In the first half of 2026, 1,649 people moved to Uzbekistan from abroad for permanent residence. This is 2.5 times more than in the same period last year, with the largest number of immigrants coming from Russia and Kazakhstan.

The number of immigrants to Uzbekistan for permanent residence has increased by 2.5 times. This was reported by the National Statistics Committee.

According to the figures published by the Committee, a total of 1,649 people from foreign countries immigrated to Uzbekistan for permanent residence from January to June 2026. This figure is 976 more than in the same period in 2025, which is a 2.5-fold increase.

Among those who immigrated to Uzbekistan, the number of immigrants from the Russian Federation was the highest, amounting to 580 people. Next in line were Kazakhstan (362 people) and Tajikistan (147 people). A total of 560 people immigrated from other countries.

When analyzed by region, the majority of those who immigrated from abroad chose the city of Tashkent. 1,089 people settled in the capital for permanent residence in six months.

The number of people who moved to the remaining regions is as follows: 269 people to Tashkent region, 115 to the Republic of Karakalpakstan, 31 to Navoi region and 22 to Samarkand region.

Also, 21 people moved to Khorezm region, 18 to Surkhandarya region, 15 to Syrdarya and Fergana regions, 13 to Bukhara and Namangan regions. 12 people to Jizzakh region, 11 to Andijan region and 5 to Kashkadarya region came from abroad for permanent residence.

According to statistics, in the first half of 2026, almost two-thirds of those who moved to Uzbekistan for permanent residence from abroad settled in Tashkent.
