The number of immigrants to Uzbekistan increased 2.5 times in one year

The number of immigrants to Uzbekistan for permanent residence increased by 2.5 times in a year. In the first half of 2026, a total of 1,649 people from foreign countries immigrated to Uzbekistan for permanent residence.
According to the National Statistics Committee, this figure is 976 more than in the same period of 2025, that is, an increase of 2.5 times was observed.
The main part of those who came from abroad for permanent residence was from the following countries:
* Russia - 580 people;
* Kazakhstan - 362 people;
* Tajikistan - 147 people;
* Other countries - 560 people.
The number of immigrants from abroad by region is distributed as follows:
* Tashkent city - 1,089 people;
* Tashkent region - 269 people;
* To the Republic of Karakalpakstan – 115 people;
* To Navoi region – 31 people;
* To Samarkand region – 22 people;
* To Khorezm region – 21 people;
* To Surkhandarya region – 18 people;
* To Syrdarya region – 15 people;
* To Fergana region – 15 people;
* To Bukhara region – 13 people;
* To Namangan region – 13 people;
* To Jizzakh region – 12 people;
* To Andijan region – 11 people;
* To Kashkadarya region – 5 people.
According to the National Statistics Committee, in 2025, 1,159 people from foreign countries immigrated to Uzbekistan for permanent residence, most of whom were from Russia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
According to the results of the population census conducted in early 2026, Tajiks constitute the largest group of permanent residents of Uzbekistan, after Uzbeks.
