From murder to rape: In which regions of Uzbekistan are the most crimes being recorded?

The Supreme Court has announced the number of people convicted of certain crimes committed in the first half of 2026. The indicators in the report are presented by region.

According to the analysis, within six months in Uzbekistan, sentences were handed down to 179 individuals accused of intentional murder and 228 individuals accused of rape. For comparison, in the same period of 2025, 177 people were convicted of murder and 110 people of rape. This means the number of both crimes has increased.

During the half-year, the highest number of intentional murders (33) and rapes (34) were recorded in Tashkent region. The next places were taken by Samarkand (27) and Fergana (26) regions.

During the reporting period, the most frequently committed crimes were drug-related, numbering 5,788. One-fifth of these, namely 1,273, were recorded in the city of Tashkent.

In the six months, 1,789 crimes of hooliganism were committed in the republic, with the largest share falling to Surxondaryo region — 299.

There were 2,614 crimes related to embezzlement or misappropriation committed in the country. The highest indicator in this regard was recorded in Andijan region — 341.

Court verdicts were issued in 1,376 crimes related to the intentional infliction of grievous and moderate bodily harm. A relatively high share fell to Fergana region — 211.

In the republic, 4,490 people were convicted of theft, the largest number of whom were caught in Tashkent region — 650 people.

During the reporting period, the number of criminal cases reviewed involving violence and harassment against women amounted to 2,480. As a result, 1,624 convictions were handed down. This type of crime was mostly committed by individuals aged 31-60.

Earlier, it was reported that 11,703 people were deprived of liberty across Uzbekistan in the first half of 2026. For comparison, in the same period of 2025, this figure was 9,570 people.
