In Uzbekistan, the number of convicted minors increased by 9.1 percent in six months

In Uzbekistan, the number of convicted minors increased by 9.1 percent in the first half of 2026. This was reported by the press service of the Supreme Court.

According to the analysis, 1,370 minors were convicted within six months. This figure is higher by 115 people, or 9.1 percent, compared to the same period in 2025.

Of those convicted, 232 people, or 16.9 percent of the total convicted, were sentenced to deprivation of liberty. Another 239 people (17.4 percent) were fined. In addition, 815 defendants (59.5 percent) were sentenced to restriction of liberty, and 25 were sent to correctional labor.

During the half-year, 520 of the convicted minors were released on parole. The sentences of another 101 people were commuted to lighter punishments, and 646 people had their cases terminated on the basis of reconciliation.

According to the Supreme Court, a total of 49,705 people were convicted in 40,696 criminal cases in the first half of the year. One-third of the crimes were serious and extremely serious crimes. During the reporting period, 11,703 people were sentenced to deprivation of liberty.
