In Uzbekistan, fines and a one-year suspension from work have been introduced for violence against children in schools and kindergartens

Uzbekistan is strengthening the protection of children's rights and increasing the accountability of teachers and educators for the abuse of children under their care.

According to amendments to the Code of Administrative Responsibility, pedagogical workers face a fine of 1 to 5 BCV (Base Calculating Value) for physical violence, humiliation of dignity, or discrimination against a child during the educational process, provided their actions do not constitute a criminal offense.

In addition, the document establishes a one-year ban on pedagogical activity for individuals held administratively liable for physical or psychological violence against minors. The restriction applies to:

kindergartens;

schools and academic lyceums;

colleges and technical schools;

children's creativity centers and extracurricular education sections.

The law also tightens regulations regarding alimony payments. In particular, parents will no longer be exempt from alimony obligations if their child is fully supported by state or non-state institutions. Furthermore, specialists from the "Inson" social service centers are now required to be involved in court proceedings aimed at reducing the amount of alimony for orphaned children.

The law comes into force from the day of its official publication.
