Educators in Uzbekistan to be fined for insulting children

In Uzbekistan, administrative liability has been introduced for employees of educational organizations for physical violence, humiliation, and insult of minors. Such violations carry a fine and a ban on professional activity for a period of one year.

The corresponding amendments are established by Law No. 1174. If an employee responsible for the upbringing and education of children uses physical violence against a minor, humiliates, or insults them, and at the same time their actions do not contain signs of a crime or another offense, they will be fined from one to five basic calculating values.

Educators who are held administratively liable for an offense related to physical or psychological violence against children will not be able to work in kindergartens, general education and specialized secondary institutions, as well as in professional and additional education organizations for one year.

The same law also adjusted the norms on alimony. A parent can no longer be exempted from paying it, even if the child is fully supported by state or non-state institutions. The "Inson" social service centers will also participate in the consideration of cases on reducing the amount of alimony collected in favor of children left without parental care.

Earlier, the Children's Ombudsman of Uzbekistan held a personal reception of citizens on issues of guardianship, education, and child safety. Among the appeals were complaints about the improper fulfillment of parental duties, violation of a child's right to education, and harm caused to their health in a preschool institution.
