In Uchtepa, a 21-year-old woman fell into a coma after a cesarean section

Nilufar Hakimova, who has been fighting for 6 months to bring her child back to life, contacted the editorial office. She asked for help, stating that her daughter, who was healthy and had a good pregnancy, fell into a very critical condition after giving birth:

"My daughter, Maftuna Mirzarahimova, born in 2005, went into labor on time and walked on her own feet to the 9th perinatal hospital in the Uchtepa district. When she went with my son-in-law, there was no indication for a cesarean section. They kept her, saying 'she will give birth naturally.' My son-in-law waited, and when he returned after going to Friday prayers in between, they told him 'we performed surgery, Maftuna is unconscious, in a coma.' When I arrived, my daughter's condition was very critical. I approached the chief physician, Ulugbek Bekjonov, and begged him to transfer her to another hospital.

When I asked what happened to my daughter, they said, 'she had a reaction to the epidural anesthesia. Because of that, her heart stopped, and we performed an emergency surgery,'" says the mother.

"She opened her eyes in 25 days"

Maftuna's condition, who was treated at the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Assistance for 5 months, has not improved. Her daughter's condition and the continuous expenses related to the treatment have put the parents in a difficult situation both mentally and financially.

"On April 27, we transferred her to the Republican Emergency Medical Assistance Hospital. There, she was admitted to neuro-intensive care. She opened her eyes in 25 days, and was diagnosed with 'coma stage 2.' My daughter was lying in a very bad state, they had covered her face. She is still in a critical condition. They diagnosed her with apallic syndrome. Her limbs are twisted and paralyzed. Is it really possible to end up in this state from just one childbirth?

No one signed a consent form, no permission was obtained from anyone for the surgery. When we asked why the surgery was performed when she was supposed to give birth naturally, they answered 'she requested it herself.' They blamed everything on my daughter. In her current state, my daughter cannot confirm anything. For five months, I have been longing to hear her say just one word, 'mother.' She opens and closes her eyes, but cannot speak a single word."
