In the US, a truck driver from Uzbekistan has been sentenced in a case involving the rape of a minor

In the U.S. state of Ohio, a 44-year-old native of Uzbekistan working as a truck driver was sentenced to 25 to 30.5 years in prison in a case involving the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl. The Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office stated that this was the harshest punishment possible in this case.
According to prosecutors, the crime was committed in 2019. The man picked up the girl on the side of the road, took her into the sleeper berth of his truck cabin, and raped her, after which he dropped the child off at a nearby truck stop.
On August 26, 2026, a jury found the man guilty on the main counts. In addition, they established an aggravating factor: at the time of the crime, the defendant was at least 10 years older than the victim.
The court classified him as a tier-three sex offender, subject to the state's strictest restrictions. After his release, the man will be required to register with the local sheriff every 90 days for the rest of his life.
