Tashkent intends to renovate 400 mahallas and build new schools and kindergartens by 2030

Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed projects for the improvement of mahallas, the construction of schools and kindergartens, as well as the development of Tashkent's urban environment. In 2027, it is planned to comprehensively renovate 100 mahallas, and by 2030 — 400.

The projects are designed on the principle of a "15-minute mahalla." This implies that shops, clinics, schools, kindergartens, recreation areas, and sports fields should be located close to home.

As part of the mahalla renovation, plans include the repair of roads and sidewalks, the modernization of utility networks, and building facades. New green zones, children's and sports playgrounds, and safe pedestrian and bicycle paths are also provided for. Up to 2030, 130 thousand jobs are planned to be created in these mahallas.

Special attention will be paid to the shortage of places in schools and kindergartens. By 2030, the capital plans to create 126 thousand new school places and 40 thousand places in kindergartens. In the 2026–2027 academic year, the construction of 24 schools for 38 thousand students and 28 kindergartens for 16 thousand children is also envisaged.

In addition, there are plans to build the "Uchtepa City" business center in the Uchtepa district. The project, covering an area of 37 hectares, will be implemented in two stages. In the first stage, a foreign investor will invest $1 billion. Residential buildings, offices, a shopping and entertainment complex, a hotel, and a promenade area will appear here.

The President instructed that the projects be refined taking into account the needs of residents and urban planning requirements.
