Tashkent plans to renovate 100 streets and improve 400 mahallas

This year, it is planned to attract 9 billion dollars in investments across 12 districts of the capital; however, at the president's videoconference meeting, it was noted that this work needs to be accelerated.

To quickly resolve investors' issues, a new procedure is being introduced: responsible officials at the republican and city levels will travel to the districts weekly to hold meetings with entrepreneurs, and justified proposals on complex issues will be sent to the Presidential Administration on the same day. For next year, the task has been set to attract 10 billion dollars in investments and create between 150,000 and 200,000 permanent, high-paying jobs.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to the comprehensive development of streets and mahallas, using the example of the Olmazor district. Since the beginning of the year, 9 streets in the district have been transformed into attractive zones for business and tourism, including the "Kichkirik" mahalla, where a kindergarten for 450 children, sports grounds, an alley, an amphitheater, pedestrian paths, and fountains have been built, improving living conditions for 5.5 thousand people. This experience is planned to be extended to another 8 streets in the Olmazor district and 3-4 streets in each of the remaining 11 districts of the capital.

One trillion soums has been allocated for the comprehensive renovation of 100 streets in Tashkent. In addition, a four-year program worth 10 trillion soums is being prepared for the improvement of 400 mahallas, following the example of the "Kichkirik" mahalla, with all planned changes to be discussed in local Kengashes and communicated to the population.

During the meeting, issues regarding the development of the historical part of the capital and the effective use of state real estate were also considered. By November 1, a unified concept and a portfolio of projects for the comprehensive development of the Old City will be prepared with the involvement of foreign companies.

In addition, officials have been instructed to conduct an inventory of 497 administrative buildings of state bodies with a total area of 765,000 square meters, in order to transfer inefficiently used spaces to entrepreneurs under long-term leases for trade, services, private medicine, and education.
