In Syrdarya, a man who sexually harassed a saleswoman was sentenced to 5 days of administrative arrest

In Sirdaryo, a man who sexually harassed a female vendor was jailed for 5 days

A court verdict was issued against a man who sexually harassed a woman selling goods by the roadside in the Aqaltin district of the Sirdaryo region.

According to the case materials, the incident took place along the M39 highway. An intoxicated man approached the female vendor, offered her sex in exchange for money, and committed acts of sexual harassment.

The victim, dissatisfied with this situation, appealed to the internal affairs bodies. IIB (Internal Affairs Department) officers investigated the situation, drew up an administrative report against the offender under Article 41−1, Part 1 (Sexual harassment) of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, and the case was sent to court.

During the court hearing, the offender fully admitted his guilt, stated that he committed the actions while intoxicated, and asked for leniency. The victim, however, demanded that strict measures be taken against the man within the framework of the law.

“Take strict measures. Will people like him just keep coming and doing this? My sons are older than him… Most importantly, so that the issue wouldn’t escalate, I handled it myself and handed him over to the law enforcement officers,” the victim said in court.

Taking into account the victim's claim and the established circumstances, the court sentenced the man to 5 days of administrative detention under Article 41−1, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility.

In addition, the court explained to the victim that she has the right to file a claim with a civil court to recover material and moral damages inflicted upon her.
