In Sirdaryo, a department head who forced employees to work on weekends was fined
Reports circulated that the head of the water supply department of the Khavast district in the Sirdaryo region forced employees to work on weekends. The Ombudsman's office investigated the situation.
It is noted that the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights received an appeal regarding the forced involvement of employees of the Khavast district branch of "Sirdaryo Suv Ta'minoti" JSC in work on weekends and holidays. The appeal was investigated by the regional representative of the Ombudsman in the Sirdaryo region and the regional State Labor Inspectorate.
During the investigation, employees' explanatory letters, videos on the Telegram network, and audio recordings calling them to work were reviewed. As a result, the involvement of employees in work on weekends was confirmed.
According to the results of the study, an administrative protocol was drawn up against the department head A.P. based on Part 1 of Article 51 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. The department head was fined 41 million 200 thousand soums.
The State Labor Inspectorate determined that forced labor was allowed in these cases and the requirements of Article 5 of the Labor Code were violated.
As a result, the head of the preschool education organization G.A. was fined 50 times the BCA — 20.6 million soums, in accordance with Part 1 of Article 51 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (administrative coercion to labor).
