In Surkhandarya, an official was held accountable for forcing youth to collect votes

The head of the youth affairs department of the Sariasia district of the Surkhandarya region, R. Rakhmatzhonov, was brought to administrative responsibility following an investigation into reports of forcing youth leaders to collect votes for projects under the "Open Budget" initiative. This was reported by the State Labor Inspectorate.

Earlier, reports appeared on social media that the official had mandatorily involved youth leaders in collecting votes for "Open Budget" projects and had also subjected them to abusive treatment.

The State Labor Inspectorate reviewed the information in accordance with the established procedure.

Based on the results of the investigation, the information circulated on social media was confirmed.

An administrative penalty was applied to R. Rakhmatzhonov on the basis of Article 51 of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility.

This article provides for liability for administrative coercion to labor in any form, except in cases provided for by law.

The State Labor Inspectorate emphasized that permitting forced labor is a violation of the law.

The Inspectorate continues to exercise state supervision over compliance with legislation in the field of labor and the protection of labor rights.
