During her visit to the Khorezm region, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Norboyeva studied the work on reducing unemployment and poverty, providing needy families with social services, and improving the infrastructure of neighborhoods.
The Chairperson of the Senate visited the Govuk and Shikhmashhad neighborhoods in the Khiva and Qoshkupir districts, which are included in the “heavy” category, and got acquainted with projects aimed at ensuring employment and expanding sources of income.
In the Govuk neighborhood, the production of furniture, doors and window frames has become one of the main sources of income for the population. Based on the specialization of the neighborhood, it is planned to establish a Handicraft Center, create the necessary conditions for craftsmen, and establish production in a cluster method.
In the Shikhmashhad neighborhood, handicrafts and gardening are the main areas. More than 100 artisan households operate here, making wooden products based on carving. Products are also supplied to Karakalpakstan and other regions.
The region is tasked with forming regions free from unemployment and poverty by the end of the year. During the President's visit to the Khorezm region, it was set to lift 81 thousand people out of poverty and provide employment to 39 thousand unemployed citizens.
To this end, the Senate has developed a new system aimed at strengthening parliamentary and public control over reducing unemployment and poverty in neighborhoods.
In accordance with it, each deputy, together with the "neighborhood seven" and representatives of public organizations, monitors the implementation of the tasks set in the neighborhoods of his elected district. Deputies are not limited to identifying problems, but also participate in providing practical assistance to the organizations responsible for solving them, monitoring implementation, and evaluating the final result.
In particular, special attention is paid to working with families included in the Social Register on an individual plan, helping them get out of poverty and have a stable source of income.
The work being done is studied every week by standing commissions. The results are discussed every month at sessions of local councils, and reports from responsible leaders are heard.
Tasks have been set to implement the new system in the activities of 348 deputies and 509 neighborhoods in the Khorezm region.
