In Andijan, a man was detained while trying to smuggle foreign currency in his socks

At the "Dustlik" customs post in the Andijan region, an attempt to illegally smuggle a large amount of foreign currency out of Uzbekistan was thwarted. A man made a hiding place in his socks, concealing tens of thousands of dollars there, and attempted to cross the border.

The passenger was traveling to a neighboring country and chose the "green" corridor, thereby declaring that he had no goods or valuables subject to mandatory declaration.

Nevertheless, customs officers decided to conduct a personal search. During the inspection, $64,000 was found in the man's socks. This amount was not declared.

According to the customs service, the citizen was aware of the established rules, but still attempted to secretly smuggle the money out of the country.

The currency was temporarily seized. An investigation is currently underway.

This is not the first such case in the Andijan region. Previously, a man hid cash dollars in his shoes and attempted to cross the border.
