Those who attempted to smuggle $240,000 out of Uzbekistan by taping it to their legs have been detained

Individuals who attempted to illegally transport a large amount of foreign currency to a neighboring country through the "Navoiy" border customs post in the Tashkent region have been stopped. This was reported by the press service of the Tashkent Regional Customs Department.

It is noted that during an operation conducted in cooperation with customs and State Security Service (DXX) officers, the behavior of two citizens crossing into the neighboring country on foot aroused suspicion. Following this, they underwent a personal search in the presence of impartial witnesses.

As a result, a total of $240,000 in cash foreign currency, which was hidden by being taped to these individuals' legs, not declared in the customs declaration, and not disclosed during oral questioning, was discovered.

Currently, investigation proceedings regarding this case are being continued by the customs authorities.

Previously, an attempt to illegally smuggle gold and $40,000 out of the Tashkent region using children was uncovered. It was also reported that the limit for taking cash currency out of the country without declaration would be set at $10,000.
