Andijan plans to create 70 thousand high-income jobs

A meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev is underway, dedicated to the socio-economic development of the Andijan region, supporting entrepreneurship, and increasing public income. This was reported by the president's press service.

It was noted that in the first half of this year, the region's economy grew by 8.8 percent, industry by 9.2 percent, services by 16.1 percent, and investments by 8.9 percent.

"It is not the growth figures that matter to us, but how each indicator brings change to the daily life of every family," the head of state said.

It was emphasized that although land and natural resources are limited in Andijan, there are opportunities such as an active population, a strong entrepreneurial spirit, a large number of young people, an industrial school, and a large market.

Over the past ten years, 20 trillion soums have been directed to the region from the republican budget, and 90 trillion soums have been allocated by banks for entrepreneurship. In this year alone, 6 trillion soums were allocated to increase the well-being of the population.

It was noted that the powers given to the khokims and the financial opportunities created must translate into corresponding results.

At the meeting, along with the volume of investments, their quality, structure, and impact on the economy were also given special attention.

It was emphasized that the 1,000 hectares of land recently allocated for industry and entrepreneurship in Andijan should turn into 7 billion dollars of investment and at least 70 thousand high-income jobs.

At the same time, it was noted that the structure of the 3.5 billion dollars of investment planned for this year is not sufficiently diversified by countries and sectors.

It was mentioned that despite the presence of information technology services export and qualified personnel, investments are not being sufficiently directed towards strengthening the technological base of the sector.

The head of state emphasized the need to attract investments into areas that create high added value, modern technology, and sustainable jobs.
