Jizzakh Region to attract $2.7 billion in investment in 2026
Investment volume in the Jizzakh region will reach $2.7 billion by the end of 2026, stated the region's khokim, Ulugbek Mustafoyev.
The Jizzakh Region plans to attract $2.7 billion in investment by 2026. This was announced on August 25 by the region's khokim, Ulugbek Mustafoyev, at the opening ceremony of new facilities, attended by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to the khokim, the economic structure of the Jizzakh Region has undergone significant changes over the past ten years, transforming from a predominantly agricultural region into an industrially developed one. Automotive manufacturing became the first major industrial sector, followed by the development of the energy sector.
Mustafoyev noted that the recently commissioned plant is part of the electrical engineering industry. Furthermore, the region is preparing to launch solar panel production and a gas-steam power plant.
During the ceremony, the khokim spoke about a meeting with approximately 300 machine operators held on the eve of the cotton harvest season. He mentioned that one of the meeting's participants, who worked as an excavator operator during Mirziyoyev's tenure as khokim of the Jizzakh region, expressed gratitude to the president for his attention to the people.
Mustafoyev also highlighted achievements in education. This year, 40% of Jizzakh region school graduates entered public higher education institutions. Taking into account those who entered private and other universities, the region expects to increase the overall figure to 51-52%.
The khokim attributed these results to the focus on education and science, as well as the work of schools and kindergartens. He stated that the region's youth support the president's policies.
The president, in turn, noted the scale of changes in the investment sector. Responding to his question about the projected investment volume, Mustafoyev confirmed the figure of $2.7 billion by the end of the year.
"I see the aksakals. Back when I was [khokim of the Jizzakh region], they couldn't even make two soums." "Would anyone have believed [back then] that there would be more than $2 billion in investment in Jizzakh?" Mirziyoyev said.
On August 25, in the lead-up to the 35th anniversary of independence, 72 major industrial and service projects, as well as 91 social facilities, were commissioned in Uzbekistan.
Mustafoyev stated that local authorities are ready to work "day and night" to achieve the goals and implement the course outlined by the president.
