Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region implements $6.2bn investment portfolio across 14 projects

The Tashkent region of Uzbekistan is currently executing an investment portfolio comprising 14 projects, collectively valued at $6.2 billion. This initiative follows President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's recent visit to the area, as confirmed by regional khokim Zoyir Mirzaev.
Mirzaev stated that all 14 projects within the portfolio are actively underway. These projects are integral to broader investment and development efforts across the region, though specific details regarding the individual value, sectors, or timelines for each project were not disclosed.
One notable project highlighted by the khokim is a solar panel cell manufacturing plant located in the Akhangaran district, which represents a $30 million investment. According to Mirzaev, this company has secured a $200 million contract with U.S. clients for deliveries throughout the rest of the year.
Mirzaev remarked, "They produce solar panel cells here. Investments amounted to $30 million. And the most interesting thing is that they already have a $200 million contract with America alone for the remainder of the year."
The provided information does not identify the company by name, specify the facility's production capacity, or detail the volume of products covered by the U.S. contract. Mirzaev also shared updates on the construction of educational and community infrastructure in various districts of the Tashkent region. In the Yangiyul district, five schools and nine kindergartens were opened on the same day.
Similarly, in the Bekabad district, 16 schools, 29 kindergartens, and 13 mahalla centers were inaugurated on a single day, according to the khokim. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also addressed the progress of individual districts and cities within the Tashkent region. In his assessment of ongoing transformations, he referenced infrastructure improvements in Chinaz and economic activity in Bekabad and Angren.
Chinaz had previously experienced a shortage of potable water, while Angren has evolved into an industrial zone. The president indicated that the current development program aims to establish infrastructure and economic capabilities for the region over the next several decades. The $6.2 billion project portfolio and the construction of social infrastructure are being implemented concurrently with industrial projects across the Tashkent region, including the $30 million solar cell manufacturing facility in the Akhangaran district.
