Ilya Sibirtsev brought Uzbekistan its first medal at the Swimming World Cup in Tashkent

Uzbek swimmer Ilya Sibirtsev won a bronze medal at the Swimming World Cup stage in Tashkent. In the 800-meter freestyle, he finished third, securing the first medal of the tournament for the Uzbekistan national team.

Sibirtsev clocked a time of 7 minutes 40.77 seconds. The winner was Lucas Henveaux of Belgium with a result of 7 minutes 37.83 seconds. Second place went to American Carson Foster, who swam the distance in 7 minutes 40.38 seconds.

The World Cup stage is being held in Uzbekistan for the first time. It features 230 swimmers from 40 countries.

The competition in Tashkent will conclude on October 10.

Previously, Sibirtsev won a gold medal at the Indy May Cup tournament in Indianapolis, USA.
