Ilham Aliyev was solemnly welcomed in Tashkent.
A solemn welcoming ceremony was held at the Kuksaroy residence of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of his state visit to Uzbekistan. An honor guard was formed in honor of the President of Azerbaijan on the square decorated with the flags of the two states.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly welcomed the high-ranking guest and invited him to the podium. The national anthems of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan were played. The leaders walked past the honor guard and congratulated the members of the official delegations. After a joint photo session, high-level negotiations began.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a meeting in a narrow circle and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council at the Kuksaroy residence. The negotiations considered issues of further development of Uzbek-Azerbaijani strategic partnership and alliance relations.
The Head of State emphasized that this state visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a historic event. Shavkat Mirziyoyev said: "The signing of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship at the end of the summit will be a confirmation of this. Most importantly, each point of our strategic partnership and alliance will be reflected in concrete results and practical actions."
The leaders noted the rapid development of bilateral relations. Regular dialogue has been established between parliaments, governments and sectors. As part of the preparation for the visit, meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Business Council and the Forum of Regions were successfully held.
Over the past five years, the volume of mutual trade has increased threefold. Cooperation projects are being implemented in energy, chemistry, mining, textiles, agriculture, urban planning and other areas. It was noted that there is a possibility of increasing the volume of trade to $ 1 billion. The adoption of a program containing specific measures creates a solid foundation for achieving this important milestone.
The meeting will launch the implementation of new cooperation projects. The importance of actively attracting funds from the Joint Investment Company to support such initiatives was emphasized. The need to strengthen the interconnection between the two countries and jointly develop the Middle Corridor was highlighted.
The leaders agreed to continue active exchanges in the fields of culture, education, youth policy and sports. Today, a new building of the National Pedagogical University named after Nizami Ganjavi will be opened, and work will begin on the construction of the “Azerbaijan” park in New Tashkent. In order to further bring the two peoples closer together, it was proposed to create a joint film on the theme “The Literary Bridge between Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi”. This fall, the second forum of rectors of leading higher educational institutions will be held in Azerbaijan.
In 2027, an important sporting event will be held in our countries - the World Youth Football Championship. In this regard, a large-scale "Two countries - one championship" program will be developed, which includes holding joint sports, cultural and youth events.
The heads of state also exchanged views on current issues on the international and regional agenda. Information from the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission was heard at the meeting. It was decided to adopt a "road map" aimed at timely and quality implementation of the agreements reached. In the end, the implementation of joint projects in banking and finance, building materials, education, oil and gas, tourism, housing construction, mining and agriculture sectors was started.
