Today, August 23, at the Kuksaroy residence, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a meeting in a narrow circle and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council. The talks considered issues of further developing the strategic partnership and alliance relations between the two countries.
According to the press service of the President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that this state visit of the Azerbaijani leader is a historic event.
“The signing of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship at the end of the summit will be a confirmation of this. Most importantly, each point of our strategic partnership and alliance will be reflected in concrete results and practical actions,” said the President of Uzbekistan.
According to the analysis, over the past five years, the volume of mutual trade has increased by 3 times. Cooperation projects are being implemented in energy, chemistry, mining, textiles, agriculture, urban development and other areas.
The conversation noted the possibility of increasing the volume of trade to $ 1 billion. It was noted that the adoption of a program containing specific measures will create a solid foundation for achieving this important milestone.
“The implementation of new cooperation projects will be launched within the framework of the meeting. The importance of actively attracting funds from the Joint Investment Company to support such initiatives was emphasized. The need to strengthen the interconnection between the two countries and jointly develop the Middle Corridor was emphasized,” the report says.
At the meeting, the heads of state agreed to continue active exchanges in the fields of culture, education, youth policy and sports.
It is noted that today the new building of the National Pedagogical University named after Nizami Ganjavi will be opened, and work will begin on the construction of the "Azerbaijan" park in New Tashkent. At the meeting, it was proposed to create a joint film on the theme "A Literary Bridge between Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi" in order to further bring the two peoples closer.
The heads of state also exchanged views on current issues on the international and regional agenda. The meeting heard reports from the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission. It was decided to adopt a "roadmap" aimed at the timely and high-quality implementation of the agreements reached.
Finally, the implementation of joint projects in the fields of banking and finance, building materials, education, oil and gas, tourism, housing construction, mining and agriculture was launched.
It was reported that Ilham Aliyev arrived in Uzbekistan accompanied by his wife.
