Azerbaijani President to pay state visit to Uzbekistan on August 23

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will pay a state visit to Uzbekistan on August 23-24. High-level negotiations and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council are planned to be held in Tashkent, and a number of documents are planned to be signed.

At the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will pay a state visit to Uzbekistan on August 23. The visit will last until August 24. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

As part of the visit, high-level negotiations are planned to be held in Tashkent and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council chaired by the leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

The main agenda of the summit includes issues of further development and expansion of Uzbek-Azerbaijani strategic partnership and alliance relations. Also, the focus will be on increasing trade turnover, deepening cooperation between business circles and regions, effective use of transport and transit opportunities, and continuing active cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

The heads of state will exchange views on current aspects of international and regional politics and discuss issues of cooperation within multilateral structures.

The negotiations are expected to result in the signing of a number of documents and the launch of economic and humanitarian projects. Currently, a forum of the regions of the two countries and other joint events are being held in Uzbekistan.

Ilham Aliyev last visited Uzbekistan in November 2025 to participate in the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the region.
