HUMO and Alipay+ launch global payment capabilities in Uzbekistan
Uzbek entrepreneurs can now accept cross-border QR payments from foreign customers. This opportunity is being implemented within the framework of a previously concluded cooperation agreement, which will allow local users to make payments around the world.
As part of the Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum 2026, organized with the support of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the national payment system of Uzbekistan HUMO and the Alipay+, a unified payment gateway for electronic wallets from Ant International, announced the launch of the Alipay+ system on the HUMO payment infrastructure. This will serve to connect local payment systems with global trade capabilities.
The launch ceremony was attended by Nodirbek Saydullayev, First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Peng Yang, President of Ant International, and Alexander Sotnikov, Chairman of the Board of HUMO.
Users of international e-wallets and banking applications connected to Alipay+ can now make QR payments in Uzbekistan. Local entrepreneurs will be able to accept payments from foreign tourists without additional settings. This will expand the opportunities for attracting new customers in the context of increasing tourist and commercial flows to the country. The ability for tourists to pay through their familiar application, without switching to a new payment method, will remove one of the barriers they face and make the country's payment infrastructure more accessible to foreign guests.
The partnership between Alipay+ and HUMO began in October 2025. Initially, HUMO cardholders had the opportunity to make payments outside Uzbekistan through their banking applications as part of Alipay+'s global ecosystem for entrepreneurs. Now the partnership will also cover users of e-wallets of Alipay+ international partners: they will be able to make purchases in Uzbekistan using the HUMO payment infrastructure via UzQR.
"The modern payment market can no longer be considered only within national borders. People are traveling, companies are entering new markets, and trade and tourism flows between countries continue to grow. Accordingly, the payment infrastructure must also develop. International compatibility is becoming one of the main areas of development for HUMO. Our goal is to make modern payment options more convenient and popular for both citizens of Uzbekistan traveling abroad and guests of our country," the message says.
