From food security to countering cyber fraud: Mirziyoyev outlined CIS priorities

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke on October 9 at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in the Turkmen tourist zone "Avaza", outlining the main directions for further cooperation among the Commonwealth countries.

The head of state noted the importance of strengthening economic ties and transitioning from simple trade exchange to joint production and the formation of value chains.

Among the priorities he named:

Trade and investment — eliminating technical barriers, mutual recognition of certificates, and expanding access to public procurement.

Food security — coordinating joint programs and establishing a mechanism for preliminary consultations before introducing restrictions on the export of food and fertilizers.

Industry and transport — developing special economic zones, creating integrated logistics centers, reducing transit costs, and unifying cargo transportation rules.

Energy and ecology — developing a long-term energy consumption forecast and the CIS Cooperation Concept in the field of resource-efficient and circular economy.

Culture and creative industries — expanding humanitarian cooperation and holding the "Cultural Policy and Creative Industries" forum.

Cybersecurity — establishing a joint CIS contact center for rapid response to cross-border cybercrimes and fraudulent schemes.

Mirziyoyev also announced Uzbekistan's readiness to assume the CIS presidency next year.

The meeting was chaired by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and was timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth.
