Floods in Nepal and Tibet: More than 3,000 people missing
Nepalese rescuers have so far recovered 734 bodies after devastating floods. Another 2,498 people are missing in Nepal, including more than a hundred workers trapped in hydroelectric tunnels. Hundreds of people are also missing in Tibet.

The Chinese government has announced that 261 foreign nationals from 23 countries are missing in Tibet after landslides and floods in the Himalayan region. The death toll in Tibet itself has reached 16.
According to officials in China's Tibet Autonomous Region, the largest number of missing foreigners - 104 - are Nepalese. Also missing are 49 Indians, 33 Latvians, 18 Americans and 15 Britons. The Beijing government has informed foreign diplomatic missions about the situation.
On Wednesday, China provided detailed information on the nationalities of the missing for the first time since the glacier collapsed. By Saturday evening, 16 people had died in Gyirong district and a total of 546 were missing.
The death toll in Nepal is rising. According to the Nepal Disaster Management Authority, at least 734 bodies have been found on their side of the border. Another 2,498 people are missing, and nearly 20,000 rescuers and soldiers have been mobilized to search for them. So far, 7,514 people have been rescued.
According to Reuters, Nepal has said it does not need foreign assistance for general rescue efforts. However, Lok Bahadur Chhetri, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the country needs help with tunnel rescues, cold storage for bodies and DNA testing.
