Fergana Region and Goyang intend to expand interregional cooperation

Fergana Region and the South Korean city of Goyang plan to strengthen cooperation in trade, economic, investment, educational, and tourism spheres. These issues were discussed by the Khokim of Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, and the Mayor of Goyang, Lee Dong-hwan.

The talks took place during a working visit of the head of Fergana Region to the Republic of Korea. The parties exchanged views on the development of mutually beneficial relations and the implementation of joint initiatives in promising areas.

At the beginning of the meeting, the participants were shown video materials about the economic and investment potential of Fergana Region and Goyang, their infrastructure, as well as opportunities for cooperation in education, tourism, and other fields.

Lee Dong-hwan called the start of studies for young people from Fergana Region at Joongbu University an important stage in the development of relations between the two regions. The Mayor of Goyang declared his readiness to expand cooperation not only in education but also in the economy, investment activities, business, tourism, and other areas.

Khayrullo Bozorov noted that strengthening ties between Fergana Region and Goyang opens up new opportunities for both sides. Among the proposals of the regional head are establishing direct contacts between business representatives, organizing mutual visits of delegations, preparing specific investment and trade projects, as well as further developing partnerships between educational institutions.

Goyang is one of the major cities in the Republic of Korea, located in Gyeonggi Province and directly bordering Seoul. Its area exceeds 268 square kilometers, and its population is over 1.07 million people.

The city possesses a modern transport infrastructure and a developed industry of international exhibitions and congresses. Goyang also features media and creative industries, tourism, and social infrastructure. It is home to KINTEX, one of the largest international exhibition and convention centers in the Republic of Korea.

Following the meeting, the parties decided to establish a joint working group involving representatives of Fergana Region and Goyang.

It will have to prepare a "road map" with specific measures, after which the parties intend to consistently expand cooperation and translate the reached agreements and initiatives into practical terms.
