Emigration from Uzbekistan has decreased, while the number of people moving to the country for permanent residence has increased
The main part of those moving to Uzbekistan from abroad for permanent residence falls on Russia, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. In January-June 2026, 580 Russian citizens moved to Uzbekistan.

In January–June 2026, 1,649 people moved to Uzbekistan from foreign countries for permanent residence. This figure has increased by 976 people or 2.5 times compared to the same period in 2025.
The majority of those who arrived from abroad for permanent residence came from Russia (580 people), Kazakhstan (362 people), and Tajikistan (147 people). Another 560 people moved from other countries.

- Tashkent city — 1,089 people;
- Tashkent region — 269 people;
- Republic of Karakalpakstan — 115 people;
- Navoiy region — 31 people;
- Samarkand region — 22 people;
- Khorezm region — 21 people;
- Surxondaryo region — 18 people;
- Sirdaryo region — 15 people;
- Fergana region — 15 people;
- Bukhara region — 13 people;
- Namangan region — 13 people;
- Jizzakh region — 12 people;
- Andijan region — 11 people;
- Qashqadaryo region — 5 people.
In January–June 2026, 5,422 people moved from Uzbekistan to foreign countries for permanent residence. This is 129 people or 2.3 percent less compared to the corresponding period of 2025.
Uzbekistanis mainly moved for permanent residence to countries such as Kazakhstan, Russia, and Korea.
