Electricity will become cheaper during daytime hours for certain enterprises

The procedure for calculating electricity tariffs by time of day for large consumers belonging to Tariff Group I will be changed. According to the new procedure, the price of electricity during daytime hours will be 1.5 times cheaper than the base tariff.

Specifically, a reducing coefficient will be applied during the semi-peak period from 09:00 to 17:00. As a result, 733 soums will be paid instead of the current tariff of 1100 soums per 1 kWh.

During the night period, i.e., from 22:00 to 06:00, the base tariff will apply.

The changes are related to the high volume of electricity generation at solar and wind power plants during the daytime. By encouraging large consumers to use electricity during this period, a more efficient use of renewable energy sources is envisaged.

Since generation at solar power plants decreases during the evening and night hours, the share of thermal power plants in meeting the demand for electricity increases. This, in turn, increases natural gas consumption. Increasing daytime consumption will create an opportunity to reduce the demand for gas and direct the saved resources to the needs of the population and other consumers.

The new procedure will allow business entities to use electricity on more favorable terms during the daytime, increase production volumes, and expand their activities. This is also expected to serve the implementation of new projects and the creation of additional jobs.

For reference, Tariff Group I includes large consumers with a connected capacity of 750 kVA and more for main and backup power supply.
