Electricity tariffs for large consumers in Uzbekistan may be revised. The press service of the Ministry of Energy told Spot that the issue of revising differential tariffs for electricity by time zones for large consumers is being studied.

This is due to a significant increase in the volume of electricity generated by renewable energy sources, in particular, solar power plants during the day.

Current tariffs encourage some enterprises to consume more energy during the night, when electricity is relatively cheap. The ministry is considering tariff mechanisms that would encourage the transfer of part of production processes to daytime hours.

It is noted that such an approach will allow enterprises to adjust their work processes to the optimal time for electricity, and the energy system will use renewable energy sources generated during the day more efficiently.

The issue of revising the ratio of increasing and decreasing coefficients applied to the established base tariff by time zones is also being studied.

The exact parameters of the new tariffs have not yet been determined. They may change based on the results of the discussions.

In early August, it was announced that a new system of state tariff regulation in the energy sector had been introduced in Uzbekistan. Within the framework of the new procedure, regulated tariffs for the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity, as well as for the transportation of natural gas and gas supply services, were approved.

These tariffs were established by the Interdepartmental Tariff Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers. They will be used in settlements between regulated organizations in the energy sector from August 1, 2026.
