Educators in Uzbekistan to be fined and suspended from work for violence against children

In Uzbekistan, liability for physical and psychological violence against children by educators and teachers has been tightened. For humiliation, insults, and the use of force against children, a fine is now provided, and educators held liable will be suspended from working with children for one year.

According to the amendments made to the Code of Administrative Responsibility, physical violence against a minor during upbringing or education, as well as bullying, including humiliation and insults, carries a fine of 1 to 5 BRV (Base Calculating Amount) — from 440,000 to 2.2 million soums. This applies to cases where the actions do not constitute a criminal offense.

At the same time, the punishment is not limited to a fine. Educators who have been held administratively liable for physical or psychological violence against children will not be allowed to engage in pedagogical activities for one year.

The ban applies to work in kindergartens, schools, colleges, technical schools, and institutions of supplementary education.

The law also addressed the issue of alimony. Parents will not be exempted from paying alimony even if the child is fully supported by an institution, and the "Inson" centers will be involved in cases regarding the reduction of alimony.
