Eco-police officers made an unusual discovery in one of Tashkent's computer clubs — they found a monkey in a basement room.

The incident occurred in the Karasu-6 mahalla. Officers from the Mirzo-Ulugbek district eco-police department were conducting an inspection when they noticed the wild animal in the basement.

The monkey was transferred to the zoo, where it will be provided with safe living conditions and the necessary care.

The capital's ecology department reminded that wild animals must not be kept without appropriate conditions and specialist supervision. Keeping them in this manner can be dangerous for both the animal itself and for people.

Previously, a grandmother walking a monkey in a bright skirt on a leash had been spotted on the streets of Tashkent on multiple occasions.
