Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz News Agency.
The identity of the man who threw stones at the lion and porcupine enclosures at the Tashkent Zoo has been established. Law enforcement was able to locate the offender thanks to CCTV footage and the help of concerned citizens.
The incident occurred on August 13. The video shows the visitor throwing stones at the animals, applauding his "accurate" hits. The porcupines, housed in an open enclosure, were particularly at risk. Even the presence of a child nearby didn't stop the man, who quickly followed suit and began throwing stones as well.
Following the incident, zoo veterinarians examined the animals. Fortunately, the animals were not seriously injured.
A district inspector fined the offender 2.8 million soums. The man admitted his guilt and apologized for his actions.
The zoo administration thanked visitors for their assistance in finding the troublemaker and once again reminded visitors that cruelty to animals is unacceptable and carries strict legal penalties.
