Direct flights from Tashkent to Sri Lanka now available

According to the Dunyo Information Agency, the first flight landed at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport on October 28 at 17:30 local time. It carried 160 passengers from Tashkent.

On the occasion of opening the new route, the aircraft was welcomed at the airport with a traditional water arch, and an official ceremony was held.

The air service was launched as a result of negotiations conducted by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad and Centrum Air with relevant organizations in Sri Lanka.

Flights on the Tashkent–Mattala–Tashkent route are scheduled until the end of March 2027.

The new service is expected to expand tourism, trade, and investment ties between the two countries. It will also increase opportunities to travel from Sri Lanka to other Central Asian countries via Uzbekistan.
